The company won the Innovation Award for the unique ALD Mobility Experience and other initiatives, while Consultancy Services Manager Matt Dale won the Unsung Fleet Hero Award.
As one of the first top 10 leasing companies in the UK to be awarded ‘Go Ultra Low Company’ status, ALD has a particular focus on employing innovative methods to facilitate behavioural change and encourage the creation and adoption of sustainable travel solutions. This approach starts with the company itself and reaches every one of the 130,000 drivers that ALD looks after in the UK.
The Energy Saving Trust Fleet Heroes Awards judges were looking for products, services or processes that would ‘offer a wider benefit to the fleet sector’ and they found it in the highly innovative ALD Mobility Experience (AME). The Innovation Award was won because of this ‘flexible new tool’ that aims to reframe traditional conversations around fleet policy by utilising gaming software and audio-visual technology to enable ‘fleets to adopt a fresh approach to their mobility needs’.
The award also recognised ALD’s recent in-house Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) trials and the development of its telematics software, ProFleet, both of which further support ALD’s ambition to support organisations in their efforts to reduce CO2 emissions.
The EST Unsung Fleet Hero award went to Matt Dale, largely because of his passion and contagious enthusiasm for sustainable mobility solutions. He has inspired whole teams within ALD as well as customers and drivers to get behind the cause for ULEVs. He was responsible for instigating the ALD Hybrid & PHEV trials in order to share best practice with customers. He works tirelessly to promote the benefits of ULEVs within the wider fleet community as a regular speaker and attendee at industry events and seminars, and he led a project to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure at ALD’s head office in Bristol.
Matt explains why the EST Awards are so important to the team at ALD: “These awards validate the strategies that we are implementing as a business. By taking a different view and challenging normal thinking, not just focusing on simply promoting more company cars, we want to stimulate the conversation and ultimately play a key role in building fleet policies that successfully meet businesses’ changing needs.”
